Email: Jeremy@spiritwisestudios.com

We are based in the United States and answer email Monday through Friday. Most replies go out within 1 or 2 business days.

When you write, it helps to include your iPhone model, iOS version, and the Bariatrack version (Settings → About). For a bug, a short note about what you did right before it happened is gold.

Frequently asked questions

How does Bariatrack know which phase I am in?

From your surgery date and the procedure you entered at setup. The default schedule is clear liquids for the first week, protein liquids through week 3, pureed through week 5, soft foods through about week 7, and regular eating from there. If your surgeon runs a different timeline, change the phase durations in Settings → Phase Configuration and the rest of the app follows along.

Why does the app stop me from logging water right after I eat?

Most bariatric programs ask you not to drink for 30 minutes after a meal, because liquid flushes food through the new stomach pouch too fast. Bariatrack enforces that buffer on purpose. If you logged a meal by accident and need to clear the buffer, edit or delete the meal entry on the Today screen and the fluid log will open back up.

I take calcium and iron. Why is the app warning me about timing?

Calcium and iron compete for absorption when they hit your gut together, so most surgeons want them spaced by at least 2 hours. The supplement scheduler shows a warning if you set them too close, and the reminders fire at the spaced times you picked. The app does not block you from taking them however you want, but it will keep nudging.

Can I use Bariatrack without an Apple Watch?

Yes. Everything works on iPhone alone. The watch app is there if you have one and want to log sips of water or a supplement from your wrist, but the iPhone is the source of truth and nothing depends on the watch being present.

Does it work with Apple Health?

Yes, with your permission. Bariatrack reads weight, steps, and active energy from Apple Health, and writes the water and nutrition data you log so the rest of your Health app stays in sync. You grant the permissions during setup, or change them later in iOS Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → Bariatrack.

How do I move my data to a new iPhone?

Turn on iCloud sync inside Bariatrack on the old phone (Settings → Privacy → iCloud Sync) and wait until the first sync finishes. Sign in to the same Apple ID on the new phone, install Bariatrack, and on the welcome screen tap "Restore from iCloud." The first restore can take 1 or 2 minutes if you have a lot of history.

Restore from iCloud is not finding my profile. What now?

Make sure you are signed in to iCloud on the new device with the same Apple ID, and that iCloud Drive is turned on. Then quit and reopen Bariatrack. The first lookup after a fresh install can take up to 90 seconds. If it still cannot find a profile, your original device may not have finished syncing before you stopped using it, in which case you can complete a new setup and email us — we may be able to help recover.

Notifications are too frequent. How do I tone them down?

Open Settings → Notifications inside the app. You can mute individual reminder types (fluid, protein, supplements, milestones), shift the reminder window, and set quiet hours for overnight. The app respects iOS Focus modes too, so a Sleep or Do Not Disturb focus will hold reminders the way you would expect.

A barcode will not scan, or a food is missing from the database.

Bariatrack uses the OpenFoodFacts database, which is excellent for some brands and patchy for others. If a barcode is unknown, tap Manual Entry and add the nutrition values from the package. The entry stays in your personal foods list so it is faster the next time. If you keep hitting the same gap, send us a note and we will look at whether there is a better source for that category.

Can I export my data?

Yes. Settings → Data → Export Data writes a CSV of your logs to the Files app or any share target. Most users do this before a follow-up appointment so their dietitian can see the trend at a glance.

How do I delete my data or my account?

There is no account to delete — Bariatrack does not require one. To wipe local data, go to Settings → Data → Delete All Data. If you had iCloud sync on, the same screen also gives you a button to delete the iCloud copy. Deleting from one device with sync on will remove it from your other devices too.

Is Bariatrack a medical device?

No. It is a tracker that follows widely used bariatric recovery guidelines. It is not a substitute for advice from your surgeon, dietitian, or any other clinician, and it does not diagnose or treat anything. Always follow the plan your care team gave you over what the app suggests.

I think I found a bug. Where do I report it?

Email Jeremy@spiritwisestudios.com with a short description of what happened and roughly when. If you can grab a screenshot, that helps a lot. We are a small studio so you will hear back from a real person, usually within a couple of days.

I have an idea for a feature.

Send it. We read every email. A surprising amount of what is in the app started as a one-line request from a user who knew the recovery experience better than we did.

A note about medical advice

Bariatrack tracks habits and shows you patterns. It is not a doctor. If you are having severe pain, persistent vomiting, signs of dehydration, chest pain, or anything else that feels wrong, call your surgical team or seek medical care. The app cannot tell when something needs a clinician, and it does not try to.

Your phone number for your surgeon or care team can live in Settings → Profile → Doctor’s Phone Number for 1-tap access on the days you need it.
